Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is here. After the shortest chapter in Fortnite history in just a year, Chapter 4 may signal a new way forward for Epic’s battle royale where players get a major overhaul every December. In Fortnite Chapter 4, a brand new map has arrived, although it’s not without a few hints of past landing spots as always. New Fortnite weapons are also here, as is another new battle pass and completely new mechanics like motorcycles and a perk system called Augments. Consider this your all-in-one explainer on what’s new and unusual in Fortnite Chapter 4.
These guides will fill up quickly when Fortnite’s downtime ends, so bookmark them and spend your launch day with us. Good chapter 4, loopers!
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass
The Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass contains eight more characters, V-Bucks, and dozens of other cosmetics to earn as you play throughout the season. Fortnite loves crossovers, and this season is no different with The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia making its island debut, as does Doom’s Doomslayer. We’re actively capturing footage of every battle pass reward in-game, and you can find a full rundown here.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Weapons
Typically, a new chapter means a major overhaul to the loot pool, and that’s still true in Chapter 4 Season 1. This season, Fortnite is introducing new weapons, including two new shotguns – time we will say which one the fans prefer. You can find a full breakdown of all the new loot and weapons here.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Map
Perhaps the most exciting part of a new Fortnite chapter is the new map. The Chapter 4 map brings a complete overhaul to the Fortnite landscape, including the introduction of motorcycles, but it’s not without a few nods to past maps that longtime players may love to stumble upon. For a full overview of the new map, check out our tourist guide here.
Exotic and mythical weapons
The best weapons in each season are Exotics and Mythics. Exotics are sold by NPCs and Mythicals are dropped by hostile NPCs when defeated. We are now searching the island for all of these, so you will find our guide here shortly.
Kinetic Ore
This new resource can be used by crafty players to gain the advantage in matchups with other players. We’re putting together a comprehensive guide on how to find and use Kinetic Ore.
Augmentation system
A new Fortnite perk system, called Augments, that distributes gameplay buffs is coming with Chapter 4, and we’re putting together a guide to break it all down for you. Things like faster reloads, faster sprints, etc. are available, and here’s how they work.
All NPC Locations
Each season of Fortnite since Chapter 2 to Season 5 has introduced new NPCs, often referred to simply as “Fortnite characters” by Epic, roaming the island and offering goods and services to players. We are actively researching all Fortnite characters in Chapter 4 Season 1 and will soon have a full map and list here.
All fishing spots
Just like you can complete your character collection book, you can also find every fish in the game. You’ll want to do this for several reasons, including receiving their many buffs for things like health and shields, but also to compete with your friends to catch the biggest fish. As with NPCs, we are looking at all fish and will have a guide linked here as soon as possible.
Week Zero Challenges
Zero Week is a fairly new way for Epic to handle launch week challenges in Fortnite. Rather than waiting for Thursday to arrive and rolling out the Week 1 Challenges, the Week Zero Challenges now give players an additional list full of major XP rewards to earn. We’ll walk you through these as soon as the servers come online, so check back here soon.
