Before you can start Spire of the Watcher, you need to visit Ikora Rey in the tower and pick up the quest, Ares Desperado. You must also have completed the Witch Queen intro quest, The Arrival (free for all players). Once the quest is in your inventory and arrival is complete, you can launch the Watcher’s Arrow through the Savathun Throne World. Look for the dungeon icon next to the Enclave.
restore power
The first meeting has one goal: to restore power. This is accomplished by defeating the Conduit Minotaurs, acquiring the Arctrician buff, and shooting nodes in the correct order to complete a node circuit.
- Defeat Conduit Minotaurs and stand in the pool they drop to get Arctrician
- Follow the power cables from the central hatch to the generator
- Shoot the first generator node, follow the power cable to the next one, shoot it and repeat until you reach the last one
- Repeat this process until all four nodes are activated

When you first enter this small town, locate the large hatch and the four power nodes. The cables connected to it lead to four generators. The start node of a sequence has flashing white arrows next to it and is at the generator level.

Conduit Minotaurs will spawn and drop the Arctrician buff when defeated. This lasts 30 seconds and allows the activation of nodes. Start with a node at the generator set and follow the cable to the next. Nodes must be powered up in order, skipping a node or activating the wrong one will cause it to turn off after a few seconds.

Activating all nodes along a power cable will lock an Arc node at the center hatch. Once all four nodes are activated, you will be able to progress deeper into the Spire of the Watcher dungeon.
During this fight, Cyclops will spawn along the ridgeline while Goblins and Harpies will swarm in the middle.
Climb the arrow
As before, Conduit Minotaurs will drop Arctrician buffs which are used to charge nodes. Follow the cables, charge the nodes and defeat the Minotaurs by climbing the tower.
- Defeat Conduit Minotaurs for Arctrician Buff
- Activate Arc nodes in sequence to load elevators
- Climb the spire to the top
The Ascend the Spire encounter is basically the same as the previous one, but with the added challenge of climbing the spire. Locate the starting nodes, defeat the Conduit Minotaur for its Arctrician buff, and start powering the cables. Follow the cables as they wrap around the boom.
Once a set of nodes has been loaded, an elevator will take you to the next section. Repeat this process until you reach the top and find your reward chest.
Akelous, the current of the sirens

The first boss fight in the Spire of the Watcher is against Akelous, the Siren’s Current. Arctrician buffs are again used to charge nodes, this time sending power to the ends of walkways to activate a fuel bar. When all four are activated, Akelous’ eyes can be damaged and then his core.
- Defeat the Conduit Minotaurs and take the Arctrician Buff
- Load the nodes starting from the middle and working towards the fuel rods
- Shoot Akelous’ eyes then his central mass
- Repeat until Akelous is defeated
The arena where you fight Akelous has a central area and four walkways that extend to the fuel rods. In order to achieve a damage phase, nodes must be loaded starting from the center. Locate the Conduit Minotaurs, defeat them, grab the Arctrician buff, and start powering up the fuel rods.
When all four fuel rods are activated, Akelous will change to one and a damage phase will begin. You must destroy its red eyes before its central housing becomes vulnerable. Up to 50% of his max health will be damageable per cycle.
At the end of the damage phase, Akelous will perform a massive concussion, knocking players back and potentially off the edge. Prepare for this by creeping on sidewalks or using abilities to get to safety.
Persys, Primordial Ruin

The final boss in the Spire of the Watcher dungeon is Persys, Primordial Ruin. Like other encounters, Arctrician buffs are used to power nodes around the arena. This time, the goal is to activate a purge of the reactor core, which will leave Persys vulnerable.
- Defeat the Conduit Minotaurs and collect the Arctrician Buff
- Activate nodes to begin purging the reactor core
- Go back into the room opposite, activate the nodes on the pillars, and the node above the door to close it
- When the doors reopen, damage Persys then repeat the process
The battle arena against Persys, Primordial Ruin is divided into two sections: a reactor room and a security room. The goal is to use arctician buffs to activate nodes, starting a reactor purge. At this point, retreat to the safe room where you can activate the nodes on the pillars and above the door to seal Persys. After the reactor purge is complete, the boss will be vulnerable for a short time.
Locate the Conduit Minotaurs, defeat them and start activating the nodes in the reactor core room. When the reactor is activated, text will appear on the screen stating: Reactor purge imminent, seek safety. At this point, retreat to the starting room.
Use the arctician buff to activate the nodes on the pillars, then the last one at the top of the doorway. This will seal Persys with the reactor. Once the purge is complete, the doors will open and Persys will be vulnerable.
The Spire of the Watcher dungeon is going to put up a decent fight the first time players dive into it in Destiny 2. However, it has some cool loot to earn and is one of the fastest dungeons to complete, so expect diving back in rather soon!
